Fault Cases for Diesel Engine of IZUSU 4HK1

Fault Case One: Engine cannot start after changing the cylinder head gasket.
Fault phenomenon: The phase of camshaft is not correct.
Fault cause: The installation of camshaft is not correct.
Fault analysis: Due to the uniqueness of CMP signal (CAM shaft angle sensor), the engine won’t start if the installation position is not correct, which will cause the ECM can’t receive right signal.
Fault Case Two: The camshaft sensors can’t start after changing O-ring.
Fault phenomenon: Engine can’t start and is with no alarm.
Fault cause: The O-ring is a replacement, which makes the diameter of O-rings bigger than OEM products, and then causes inappropriate installation gap between sensor and camshaft gear. Thus the signal is not up to standard.
Fault analysis: The requirement for this kind of sensor’s signal is higher. If the distance of sensor and camshaft is beyond the scope of requirement, which causes inaccurate signal, the ECM cannot identify this signal and the engine won’t start.
Fault Case Three: Engine installed with machine can start after retrofitting. The jitter is very large, the revolving speed is not stable, and there is lots of white smoke.
Fault phenomenon: The phenomenon is as above, without failure alarm.
Fault cause: The wiring harness connection terminal of CKP line has virtual connection because of installation personnel’s carelessness.
Fault analysis: Because the line connection is intermittent, ECM can receive unstable signal but the signal is not up to be judged as fault alarm. Therefore, no alarm and unstable signal affects the control for the engine.
