Single plunger type distributor VE pump was developed in the mid 1970s by Germany Company Bosch, originally based on VE type fuel injection pump and VM type pump. In 1985, German introduced J series direct injection diesel engine from Japan, which are used for Isuzu N series light trucks, collocating with Single plunger type distributor VE pump and other diesel engines successively.
Since the 1980s, foreign distributor pump manufacturers have adopted electronic technology in mechanical control type pump and put into batch production. VE - EDC electric distributor pump (VP37), designed by Bosch Company, was recognized as the first generation of electric distributor pump.
Later, foreign distributor pump manufacturer further developed a method to control the oil supply by time, using a high-speed solenoid valve control, which can directly switch high pressure oil according to the electromagnetic valve power. This control method has simple structure, flexible injection, which can control the oil supply rate, realizing pre injection. This is called the second generation of electric distributor pump, such as Bosch electronically controlled VE - MV distributor pump and Zexel VP30 distributor pump.
In 1996, Bosch Company successfully developed the third generation of of electric distributor pump - cam electronic distributor VP44 pump. It uses cam disk, radial contraposition type plunger, and the structure of distributing rotor rotation. This new type VE Pump can control fuel supply rate and injection with high-speed solenoid valve. Hydraulic efficiency and engine power of this pump reached to a fully optimize level.
